Originally, I was interested in just a protection solution that wasn't centrally managed.  My major concern was to find something that left the base game intact. I want to keep it as vanilla as I can.  With some tweaking, either of these plugins can do this by disabling the features that change it too drastically.

If you look at PreciousStones subtitle, "self service force-field based protection system for PVP servers" you will see that it has a similar goal: PVP.  It is a PVP-centric plugin that I might still be considering it if the developer hadn't just announced yesterday that he is ceasing development in the future.   As such, I have installed Factions and am currently tweaking it a bit.  I have disabled home-teleports and upped the max power level-per-player to 15.

Our permanent implementation of Factions is not guaranteed, but likely.  Please continue to give feedback in this thread.  I'd like to make it work for everyone.  Again, if you do not wish to participate in PVP, then don't.  Ask that the other factions to declare you as neutral.  The main purpose here was to provide protection from potentially untrustworthy groups.
